The Ganges flows through Ilford and is a good bet.

Carthagena wier on the Lea is usually productive - Some lovely Chubb and barbel.

Not sure if it's still a members water though, so will need to check that.

There's some lovely stretches of the Lea in and around Watham Abbey/Cross and Chestnut.

A mate of mine in Tunbridge Wells fishes all these waters, but, you have to join the club.

Cough, It is mate but it's not what it used to be.

Sadly, there's been a lot of poaching and a lot of the fish have been taken out.

Still some chubb, Roach and Pike to be had though.

Whenever I go there, I park up near the fish and eels and walk about a mile downstream, where it's not as busy.

Had some great days out with a rod or 2 on the Chelmer with my Dad back in my younger days...

During the war, Sold0?

Cough, yes mate. They are absolutely all over the place now - many lakes I used to fish are desolate now due to poaching, many forest natural lakes are fucked because of it.

"The Ganges flows through Ilford and is a good bet."

Is that a pathetic effort to be funny? You really try hard don't you? What a plank.

Pal of mine said heybridge basin in Malden was good.
Love river fishing but haven’t done it since I was about 15. Used to go over the Roding at the back of the ornamentals and Wanstead golf course but I think it’s empty now during to the poaching/ pollution issue as well. Also bow canal/ river Lea. Just started getting back into fishing. Love it again been going woodys in fobbing. Big cats in there.

Yalding and Teston on the Medway are available on a day ticket, the Stour through Canterbury and the Eden through Edenbridge are both free fishing, both of those you'll find Chub etc, at Teston you'll get Chub, Carp and Barbel.

Don, if youre into catching the big cats, go to crow green in brentwood.

Cats over 100lbs in there that come out regularly.

Probably the nicest commercial fishery you'll find.

Foot paths all around the lakes, for easy access. On one side of the lake they've installed wind breaker fences so you don't get the cold northerly wind. There's BBQ's to use on site, as well as toilets.

Lovely place, there's a little lake I fish for the tench, bream, carp next to the main big lake.

I had a quick session down in Isleworth on the Thames.

Stick floating with maggots, caught some mighty fine Chub down there.

Sorry nowhere Essex or Kent, sure there are some good spots.

Re: Rivers in Essex or Kent to fish
Car park lake, mate.

The Lily lake isn't open, it was full of the usual carp, roach, rudd, bream, etc but they're converting it to a specialist carp lake.

The main lake is stacked full of Cats over 100lbs and carp up to 50lbs, which I believe they netted the smaller stock and put into the lily lake.

Depends what you prefer, for me I can't stand cats or HUGE carp, as I'm more of a match angler.

Don Ravioli - Used to go over the Roding at the back of the ornamentals and Wanstead golf course

That was a favourite place of mine right next to the A12 roadway. A big crater half way across the river was good place to drop the swimfeeder.

Woody's or Jimmy's if that's the one are probably my local lakes now that The Warren is members only and haven't yet tried either as I'm not after cats or carp.

Ill try the Lea next month and give the Chelmer as well if I can find where there are day tickets.
